School Lacrosse League
Overview
The objective is to introduce the new Olympic Sport of Lacrosse to interested students without the potential conflict with the current club sports structure. Lacrosse will be played in the 2028 Olympics at Los Angeles, USA. The Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund supports the Deutscher Lacrosse Verband in its efforts to qualify for the LA28 Games.
To build a strong Lacrosse foundation in Germany requires an increase of interested participants at the entry level. The Deutscher Lacrosse Verbund manages the adult and senior levels however has a short fall at the youth levels. This is where the Panda Lacrosse School League will step in and introduce more school age and younger players with the purpose to offer Lacrosse as an option to the traditional club sports.
How the School League works
Step one
A qualified instructor introduces the sport of lacrosse in sports classes. We use a proven lesson plan which teaches history of the sport, skills and game play.
Step Two
Once per month we will offer an after school training session of 60 to 90 minutes at the school if possible. Panda Lacrosse provides all needed equipment and instruction.
Step Three
Once per month we will hold a Lacrosse Game Day on a Saturday morning. We would play a version of Lacrosse Sixes. We call it Street Lacrosse which is 5 v 5 on a small sports court or field. We use our goals which are 4x4 (Feet) and a soft ball (tennis or soft rubber). The teams could be made of 8 to12 students. The only requirement is that they all attend the same school. The games are 30 minutes in length (2x15). We would play in two divisions Grade 7 to 12 and Grade 1 to 6 and teams would be coed. The percentage would be at least 30% of any one gender. If the numbers justify we would have gender specific divisions.
Step Four
A Panda Lacrosse School League Championship would be organized at the end of the spring before school concludes before the summer break. All teams would be involved.
Cost
The only cost at this time would be for a team shirt and possibly awards for the end of the season Championship.
Additional Information
As this would be the first season I anticipate situations would come up that we will need problem solving on a case by case basis.
School Lead or Contact Person
A lead person would be needed from each school but the workload for this project would be low. The main responsibility would be communication and to act as a liaison with the school.
